Foil tray manufacturer, Advanta, has released an infographic which summarises key facts and figures about the aluminium market. As the negative impact of plastic packaging continues to make headlines, the business aims to raise awareness of the alternatives available, like aluminium.
57 million tonnes of aluminium is produced each year. The metal is highly recyclable and unlike plastic, can be recycled repeatedly without any damage to the material’s integrity. At a time where we are battling to reverse the negative impact plastic is having on the world around us, it is important that manufacturers explore alternatives.
As a manufacturer of food packaging, Advanta is committed to protecting the environment and maintaining an environmental policy to ensure its products are sustainable. The company is a member of ALUPRO, an aluminium sustainability organisation responsible for several recycling incentives.
“The versatility of aluminium is proven by its use in a wide array of applications,” explained Miguel Campos, export sales manager of Advanta. “From beer kegs to window frames, food packaging and aeroplane parts — it is no surprise that 57 million tonnes of the stuff is produced each year. In fact, even when only considering food packaging, 7 billion aluminium foil containers are produced every year, amounting to an impressive 220 containers every second.
