Garbaty appointed to St. Lawrence Seaway cargo growth position

The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation has announced the appointment of Mr. Robert Garbaty to the position of Senior Manager, Cargo Growth.
Mr. Garbaty is a Mechanical Engineer, bringing 10 years expertise in purchasing and strategic sourcing with ArcelorMittal. His marine industry experience is highlighted by his time with Fednav, including three years as Director of Sales for Federal Marine Terminals, overseeing activity in Canada and the United States. Additionally, he brings seven years experience with Tube City IMS as Director of Trading where he focused on raw materials and byproducts in the steelmaking trade.
With SLSMC, his portfolio includes business development, cargo growth and diversification activities from Montreal to Thunder Bay and Duluth. He will also be supporting strategic development with partners and clients, as well as helping to lead the Highway H2O marketing activities, representing the brand at conferences, trade exhibitions and events.
The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation was established in 1998 as a not-for-profit corporation by the Government of Canada, Seaway users and other key stakeholders. In accordance with provisions of the Canada Marine Act, the Corporation manages and operates the Canadian assets of the St. Lawrence Seaway. Since the St. Lawrence Seaway’s inception in 1959, three billion tonnes of cargo has been transported via the waterway.
