GGC Statement on ministry changes
(Posted on 26/07/18)
Grain farmers across Canada welcome the Government’s renewed focus on trade diversification and look forward to working with the new Ministers tasked with delivering on that focus. Hard working grain farmers support the Government’s ambitious trade agenda and will be strong partners for Minister Carr in his role as Minister for International Trade Diversification. Grain farmers are keen to work with Small Business and Export Promotion Minister Ng as she helps small business and entrepreneurs succeed at home and abroad. GGC also welcomed Minister LeBlanc’s appointment as the Minister responsible for Internal Trade which can play an important role in encouraging economic growth at home.
“Once again this Government has recognized that Canada’s prosperity is tied to progressive trade and economic opportunities beyond our borders. The benefits of trade are felt at the farm gate, in rural communities and across Canada. We are keen to see these benefits increase with the quick ratification of the CPTPP, the launch of negotiations to expand trade with China and an aggressive approach to defending Canadian farmers against illegal trade barriers that target Canada’s top-quality grains.
“I would like to thank Minister Champagne for the hard work he did as International Trade Minister. We wish him and the other Ministers appointed today success in their new roles.”
