As the world slowly recovers from the restrictions of the Coronavirus pandemic and begins to look ahead, The Swedish Club is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Area Manager to take its Team Piraeus office into the future.
Ludvig Nyhlén joins Team Piraeus from the Club’s head office in Gothenburg, having spent the last ten years in various roles within The Swedish Club, gaining a solid grounding in marine insurance. He made up part of the team that established the Norway office, and is looking forward to the challenges that heading Team Piraeus will bring.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” says Nyhlén. “We have the chance to start afresh, to work and develop together with our members and learn from the last 18 months. I am very much looking forward to meeting both members and business partners face to face and being able to build upon the relationships that the Club has established over the years. The Swedish Club is emerging from the pandemic in as good a shape as it has ever been – and this is a unique opportunity to become even better.”
Last year The Swedish Club celebrated the 40th anniversary of its operation in Greece, and Ludvig Nyhlén is keen to join such an experienced and high-quality team. “The Greek shipping market is very special to The Swedish Club,” he says. "It’s striking how big the industry is in practice - the whole community is involved. The taxi drivers, the hotels – everyone knows shipping. I know I have a great deal to learn, and what better place to do it than in Piraeus.”
Ludvig Nyhlén replaces Hans Filipsson, who has stepped down after eight years at the helm to take up an advisory role.
His appointment was welcomed by Lars Rhodin, who says: “Ludvig Nyhlén will prove a great asset to Team Piraeus. He brings with him enthusiasm, a solid understanding of the shipping market as a whole, and a strong commitment to serving the needs of the shipping community in Greece. We would like to thank Hans Filipsson for ably leading the team through the unprecedented challenges of the last 18 months and are delighted that the Club can still benefit from his expertise.”
